Dave Rollo announces re-election campaign for City Council District IV

In his run for a third term, city councilman Dave Rollo reaffirms his 9-year commitment to a Sustainable Bloomington.   “In 2003, I pledged to promote the social, environmental and economic well being of our community.  In the four years ahead, I will build on the city’s record of success to continue improving quality of life for all Bloomington residents.” In a renewed commitment to campaign finance reform, Rollo’s campaign will once again cap contributions to $50 per person.

Government that promotes a diverse, local economy that enhances our environment while improving public infrastructure will be the focus of Dave’s work as District IV representative.

“My aim for the next four years, in brief, is to work for a secure community with high quality of life”.

Dave’s commitment to Bloomington:

  • Sound infrastructure and fiscal policy.
  • Constituent service: responding to needs of individuals and neighborhoods.
  • Expanding green space preservation.
  • Biking, walking and safe routes to school.  Expansion of multi-use paths.
  • Investing in public transportation.
  • Promoting economic diversity with emphasis on local businesses.
  • Relocalization of our economy to keep wealth local and foster community resilience.
  • Attracting private investment by building the common wealth of community.
  • Supporting a local food economy.
  • Powering down our energy use in recognition of global peak oil production and climate change.
  • Emphasis of traditional neighborhood design in development proposals.
  • Prudent land use policies that enhance our living environment without degrading our natural environment.

Dave’s campaign will demonstrate his commitment to campaign finance reform, recognizing that our political system is broken because of the corrosive influence of money.  This distortion of politics cannot be remedied until the influence of private money is diminished.   Sadly, it is easily observed that matters become worse with each passing election – even during our current time of economic hardship.

As a step toward reclaiming our electoral system from special interests, Dave pledges to take no more than $50 from any person.

Running a low-expense campaign will mean less time devoted to fundraising, and more time dedicated to visiting every home in District IV over the next 9 months.

Dave is a researcher in molecular/microbiology at Indiana University, and is co-owner of Stranger’s Hill Organics Farm.
